KAMAEJUTSU
POSTURE • TIMING • FLOW

WHAT IS KAMAEJUTSU?
Kamaejutsu is a modern movement practice rooted in Japanese budō. Rather than treating postures as fixed positions, it explores how the body moves into, through and beyond them while maintaining balance, structure and awareness.
Practice begins with fundamental postures and gradually develops into continuous sequences of movement. Through this process, Posture, Timing and Flow become something you learn to recognise and experience within your own movement.
Kamaejutsu is non-combative and has no competitive element. The focus remains on your own body, your own movement and the quality of your practice.

POSTURE
Learn how stance, structure and weight distribution create balance and provide the foundation for movement.

TIMING
Develop awareness of when weight, centre and position begin to change as one movement develops into the next.

FLOW
Gradually connect individual movements into continuous practice while maintaining control, balance and awareness.

FROM POSTURE TO MOVEMENT
Kamaejutsu begins by learning to recognise how the body stands, balances and responds to change. The traditional Kamae no Kata provides the technical foundation, introducing the fundamental postures (kamae) from which the practice develops.
From this foundation we progress to the Flows: individual series of movements connected to the principles of the Godai elements. As movement becomes more familiar, practice becomes increasingly focused on precision, balance and awareness rather than simply remembering a sequence.
A PRACTICE THAT DEVELOPS WITH YOU
Kamaejutsu is structured, but it is not competitive. You do not train to defeat an opponent or to keep pace with the person beside you. The practice develops through your own movement, attention and experience.
You can train simply for the practice itself or choose the traditional belt and examination path. Either way, the same unarmed foundation remains central and the emphasis stays on improving balance, control and awareness through movement.
No competition. No pressure to grade. Your practice develops with you.
