TRAINING

A PERSONAL PRACTICE. A SHARED EXPERIENCE.

START WHERE YOU ARE

You do not need martial arts experience to begin Kamaejutsu. Training starts with something you already have: your own body and the way it moves.

The first lessons focus on posture, balance and awareness of your centre. Movements are introduced progressively, giving you time to understand what your body is doing rather than trying to keep up with a fixed performance level.

Kamaejutsu is not about being more flexible, stronger or faster than the person beside you. You begin from your own ability and develop from there.

INDIVIDUAL PRACTICE

Kamaejutsu is primarily practised through your own movement. You learn to observe posture, balance and tension without depending on a partner or opponent.

GUIDED LEARNING

The instructor introduces and refines the movements while helping you recognise what happens within your own body. Correction provides direction; experience develops through practice.

SHARED PRACTICE

Although the practice is individual, training takes place together. Moving alongside others creates rhythm, focus and a shared learning environment without competition or comparison.

INSIDE A KAMAEJUTSU CLASS

A Kamaejutsu class combines preparation, technical practice and continuous movement. We begin by preparing the body and bringing attention towards posture, breathing and balance before moving into the technical focus of the lesson.

Depending on experience, this may include fundamental postures, the Kamae no Kata or one of the Kamaejutsu Flows. Movements are first explored clearly and precisely before gradually becoming more continuous.

There is no pressure to perform at the same level as someone else. Students can work with the same principles at different depths, allowing beginners and more experienced practitioners to train together while maintaining their own focus.

Precision comes before speed. Awareness comes before performance.

YOUR PRACTICE. YOUR PACE.

Kamaejutsu provides a structured curriculum without turning training into a race through grades. As your experience develops, new Flows and deeper layers of practice are introduced while the foundations remain part of your training.

You can choose to follow the traditional examination and belt path, or continue practising the unarmed curriculum without grading. Those who choose examinations also encounter traditional Japanese weapons as training tools, adding new challenges to posture, movement and balance.

Whichever path you choose, the objective remains the same: to develop through consistent and attentive practice.
